About Us

With 25years’ experience in bespoke fabrication, manufacturing and high end commercial construction and detailed Joinery, Managing Director Ian Bainsbridge set up INexhibit to utilise his vast skillset to specialise in buildability consulting, bespoke fabrication, prototyping, building commissioned artworks and heritage interpretation elements. By focusing on "outside the box" projects and only undertaking very select and interesting projects, usually the projects that everyone else has put in the too hard basket, Ian has also filled a void in the consultant market by adding a highly pragmatic approach with respect to buildability, cost and function to the early stages of the design process.

Our well equipped and capable workshop gives us the unique ability to complete the majority of our services in house. We work with ALL materials and have CNC router and laser cutting facilities onsite. We like to engage our clients with a hands on approach to ensure we get perfection at sample stage and are able to replicate it for the final product.

We understand the nuances of the construction industry and have the technical and hands on knowledge to push the boundaries whilst being conscious of budgets and program constraints. We will take the stress out of contractor selection and management, consultant meetings, authority approvals and permits, value engineering, design development and stakeholder reporting. We can be involved on an as required basis to assist or can manage your project in its entirety from beginning to end.

Archaeological Equipment and Field Assistance

We manufacture in house a range of Archaeological equipment that has been developed with and field tested by Archaeologists. Besides our standard range of sieves, photographic scales, range poles and specialty digging tools, we are able to custom make equipment to suit your requirements or add company logos for that personal touch.

We are also able to assist with detailed machine excavations and bulk fill removal prior to your detailed hand excavation. We can facilitate your site establishment, plant hire and operation, spoil removal, HAZMAT removal and waste water management. Let us do the back breaking bits and leave the fun stuff for you as the archaeologist.

We are passionate about working with artists and designers to bring their creations to life. By assisting with early concept design development, prototyping and perfecting design elements, we are able to ensure that the design intent is maintained throughout the manufacturing process. We regularly engage with a range of diverse groups which has given us an appreciation and respect for the design, whilst being sympathetic and understanding of the sensitivities around the inspiration behind the design. Our hands on approach gives the artist an opportunity to be involved with every aspect in our workshop to ensure the finished product is authentic and true to form.

Having spent 16 years working on the tools as a qualified tradesman, and a further 8 years in commercial construction management prior to forming INexhibit, Ian's own highly developed skillset and keen interest in design and fabrication was established and nurtured from his early years as a child helping his craftsman father in the workshop. Being inspired by anything hands on and creative, Ian gained exposure to a broad range of materials, processes and outside the box projects well before beginning his career as a Detailed Joiner in early 1998. Working on high end residential and commercial detailed joinery, cabinetmaking and shop fitting, and heritage projects, Ian was exposed to an extremely broad range of materials, processes and techniques that have been the foundation of his knowledge base in regards to materiality and fabrication processes to this day.

After also gaining experience with residential building projects, structural projects and a heap of heritage work, after 16 years, Ian changed his career direction away from the hands on side of things to enter the commercial construction management arena for a tier one construction company for a period of 8 years. Working on fit out, heavy refurbishment, heritage and ultra high end retail projects, Ian learnt the nuances of the design process whilst working in close collaboration with Architects, Designers and Consultants.

This lead to the uncovering of a gap between the designers and the builder that was not completely filled by the expert consultant team. Ian has filled this gap as a Buildability Consultant, being able to bridge the divide between the limited textbook technical knowledge of the expert consultants, the practical reality of what can actually be built and the dreams of the design team. Ian is able to use his pragmatic knowledge of materiality, trade practices and a wealth of hard earnt experience on the tools to create value engineering opportunities, time efficiencies and ultimately a higher level of quality to the overall finish and longevity.
